Thank you, Stewards!

At a meeting of His Beatitude, Metropolitan Tikhon and the Officers of the Orthodox Church in America on January 2, 2014 — the first meeting of the new year — OCA Treasurer Melanie Ringa shared the final results of the recent campaign to recruit Stewards of the Orthodox Church in America.

“As of today we have 142 contributing Stewards—24 members of the old Fellowship of Orthodox Stewards [now the “Stewards of the OCA”] and 118 new members,” Ms. Ringa reported.  “The total donations raised from the start of the campaign through today is $20,627.73.”

Metropolitan Tikhon sent a letter of thanks to each new Steward in which he said, “I would like to offer my personal thanks to you and your family for your donation to the Stewards of the Orthodox Church in America. As you know, it is only through the efforts and support of the faithful such as yourself that the ministries of the Church can continue and grow.”

Funds donated by the Stewards directly support a diverse range of ministries, including Archives, Charities, Christian Education, Christian Service and Humanitarian Aid, Clergy Training, Communications, Continuing Education, Diaconal Vocations, Evangelism, External Affairs, Institutional & Military Chaplains, Liturgical Music and Translations, Pastoral Life and Ministry, Seminaries and Theological Education, and Youth, Young Adult and Campus Ministry.

“I would like to ask you to continue to remember our beloved Church in your prayer life,” wrote Metropolitan Tikhon in his thank you letter. “Lifting up in prayer our faithful and those serving the Lord at the altar and in various ministries is as vital and life-giving as the financial support offered.”
