Agia Sophia Coffeehouse hosts clergy delegation from Philadelphia Deanery

Agia Sofia Visit

On Monday July 2nd, clergy from the Philadelphia Deanery visited Agia Sophia Coffeehouse and Bookstore in Harrisburg, PA. Father David Mahaffey (Dean) organized the visit as a token of support for this unique Pan-Orthodox outreach in Pennsylvania’s capitol. The deanery also presented a check for $300.00 to be used to support for the shop’s on-going expenses.

Agia Sofia

Agia Sophia has been operating since September 2011 under the auspices of the Orthodox Christian Charities of Greater Harrisburg Inc (OCCGH), an IRS approved non-profit organization. The shop offers customers high quality espresso, coffee, specialty drink, and tea products. In keeping with its mission, Agia Sophia donates all profits to local charities, including the tips received by employees. Since January 2012, the shop has donated over $800 to local charities through these designated funds.

Agia Sofia

Please continue to keep the Agia Sophia project in your prayers, and encourage family and friends who live or work near Harrisburg, or are passing through the city, to stop in to enjoy the coffee and ambiance. Donations in support of the mission are also greatly appreciated!
