On Friday, May 1, the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Orthodox Church in America, meeting via teleconference, under the presidency of His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon, in light of the current pandemic crisis, decided to postpone the celebrations for the Fiftieth Anniversary of the granting of the Tomos of Autocephaly, and the glorification of St. Herman of Alaska that had been previously announced.

At this point, if the situation permits, the Holy Synod looks to begin the celebration of these anniversaries in mid-November at its regular Fall Meeting. In 2021, the celebrations will continue with the Memorial Day Pilgrimage at St. Tikhon’s Monastery in May 2021, and conclude at the All-American Council in July 2021 in Baltimore, MD. Details for these events will be made available in due time.
