Reflection on the commemoration of Saint Alexis of Moscow

One of the great wonderworkers among the saints is the holy hierarch Alexis of Moscow, whose icon is fairly ubiquitous in our older churches in the northeastern part of the United States. While participating in ecclesiastical and political life at the highest level, this spiritual friend of Saint Sergius of Radonezh still managed also to achieve the highest level of sanctity. Having been given much, he now abundantly shares God’s grace with those who seek his intercessions. May we, amid all our worldly cares, always seek the guidance and intercession of the saints—at school or work, at home, everywhere. Just as Saint Alexis was active in many areas and still became a saint, so might we invite the saints—and in them, Christ—into all the areas of our lives.
