OCA family to begin long-term missionary work in Albania
Dr. Jeffrey and Caryn Macdonald and their five children.

Dr. Jeffrey and Caryn Macdonald, members of Saint John the Forerunner Antiochian Orthodox Church here, have been accepted as long-term missionary candidates by the Orthodox Christian Mission Center. They will serve in Albania, where Dr. Macdonald will be assisting Holy Resurrection Seminary near Durres.

Christianity, and indeed all religious life, was outlawed in Albania under communist rule. With the end of communism in 1992, the Church began to rebuild both Church buildings and the Christian community. To help to rebuild Church life and provide teachers of the Gospel, Holy Resurrection Seminary was established to train local Albanian clergy and Church workers.

Dr. Macdonald, who previously had taught Church History and Old Testament at Saint Herman’s Seminary, Kodiak, AK, holds an undergraduate degree in Biblical Studies and Archaeology and studied at Saint Vladimir’s Seminary, Crestwood, NY. He later completed a Ph.D. in Early Christian Studies.

The Macdonalds and their five children are now contacting potential supporters and arranging to speak with parishes, other groups, and individuals that might be interested in their future ministry, as well as those who can offer ongoing support through prayer and financial donations during their two years in the field. They are happy to answer questions about their upcoming work, and can be contacted at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
