Harrisburg, PA liturgical music workshop to focus on two-part harmony
Christ the Saviour Orthodox Church here will host a liturgical music workshop Friday and Saturday, October 17-18, 2008.
Led by Monk Sergius [Bowyer], Instructor of Liturgical Music at St. Tikhon Seminary, the workshop will focus on the singing of two-part harmony. Fr. Sergius recently launched a web site dedicated to two-part music at www.orthodoxtwopartmusic.org.
The workshop will begin on Friday, October 17 with Vespers at 6:00 p.m., followed by a lecture titled “Santification and Worship: Finding Real Life Through the Liturgy” at 7:00 p.m. The Divine Liturgy will be celebrated the following morning in two-part harmony at 8:00 a.m., followed by breakfast and a full day dedicated to learning and practicing the techniques and principles of two-part music.
