Mrs. Alla Jillions, 93, mother of Archpriest John Jillions, Chancellor of the Orthodox Church in America, peacefully fell asleep in the Lord at Samaritan Hospice Inpatient Center here on the evening of Wednesday, November 28, 2012, surrounded by her family.
A resident of Mount Laurel, NJ, Mrs. Jillions was a member of Holy Cross Church, Medford, NJ. She had been in declining health for several weeks.
Born Alla Galenko-Jacob in Kishinev, Moldova, she spent most of her upbringing in Montreal, Canada. She was employed in several fields, including writer/translator for the BBC, real estate broker, and newspaper editor.
Mrs. Jillions was preceded in death by her husband Jack, daughter Alla Wheeler, and sister Helene Moran. She is survived by her sons, Archpriest John (Denise) Jillions, Syosset, NY, and Col. Andrew (Kathleen) Jillions, Hainesport, NJ; daughters Tania Kerno (Ivan), London, England, and Tamara Carson (Michael), Wiley, TX; son-in-law Protodeacon Eric Wheeler, Huntington, NY; brother Nicholas Jacob (Rubine); grandchildren Christopher, Anastasia (Ryan), Andrew (Alice), Jack, Alexander (Meaghan), Azure, Anthony, Katie, Allison, Andrew, Jr. and Thomas; great grandchildren Quenten and Seamus; and nephew Anthony Moran (Revae).
Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 2, at Holy Cross Church, 11 Wilkins Station Road, Medford, NJ, with the celebration of a Memorial at 7:30 p.m. The Funeral will be celebrated at the church on Monday, December 3, at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Saint Tikhon’s Monastery Cemetery, South Canaan, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Jillions’ memory may be made to the Holy Cross Church at the above address.
