Archpriest Dimitri Cozby, Priest-in-Charge of All Saints Mission, Victoria, TX, fell asleep in the Lord on Thursday, May 30, 2019.
Born in Denton, TX on October 22, 1947, he was received into the Orthodox Church in October 1968. In June 1971, he married the former Mary Susan Ramsay. They have three children, John, Chrysa, and David; and two grandchildren.
He earned a Master of Divinity degree at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology, Brookline, MA in May 1972. He also received a Doctor of Philosophy degree from Duke University, Durham, NC in September 1979.
Father Dimitri was ordained to the diaconate by the late Bishop Dmitri of Dallas in December 1971 and to the priesthood by the late Archbishop John of Chicago in February 1973. He served parishes in Texas, Illinois, Wisconsin, prior to being assigned to All Saints Mission, Victoria, TX, which he served until his repose, in September 2019. He also served as Dean of the Southcentral Deanery. He was elevated to the dignity of Archpriest in 1995 and awarded the jeweled cross in 2002.
Funeral services were held at All Saints Mission on Tuesday, June 4. A Panikhida was celebrated at Saint Anthony the Great Church, San Antonio, TX, followed by interment at Holy Archangels Monastery, Kendalia, TX.
