Deacon Joseph Rabickow, Jr. fell asleep in the Lord on Monday, January 22, 2024, after an extended illness.
Born February 7, 1950 in Natrona Heights, he was a son of the late Joseph T. Rabickow, Sr. and Ida M. (Myers) Rabickow.
Deacon Joseph was a 1968 graduate of Apollo High School, and graduate of Robert Morris College. He worked in production for Phillips Respironics in Murrysville for 20 years. He enjoyed gardening and making wine and candles.
Deacon Joseph had been attached to Saint John the Baptist Church, New Kensington, PA, since being ordained to the holy diaconate in 1996.
Deacon Joseph is survived by his wife of 50 years, Katherine F. “Kathy” (Allshouse) Rabickow; son, J. Thomas (Amy) Rabickow, III of Indiana, PA, Patrick (Laura) Rabickow of Kiski Township, Christopher Rabickow of Kiski Township; grandchildren, Allan Stull and Anastasia Rabickow; great-grandson, Charles Stull; and a sister, Susan E. (Thomas) Burkett of Kiski Township.
Friends will be received on Thursday, January 25, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Curran-Shaffer Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 100 Owens View Ave., Apollo. A Parastas Service will be held on Thursday at 7:00 PM in the funeral home. Additional viewing will be held in Saint John the Baptist Orthodox Church, 150 Elmtree Road, New Kensington, on Friday, January 26, 2024 from 10:00 AM, until the funeral service at 11:00 AM, with Father John Parker officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell. Clergy desiring to concelebrate at Friday’s Funeral Service should wear light colored vestments (i.e., white or gold).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Deacon Joseph’s memory to Saint John the Baptist Orthodox Church, 150 Elmtree Road, New Kensington, PA 15068.
