Elizabeth Walens, 94, fell asleep in the Lord at Jefferson Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA on Wednesday, July 6, 2016.
The widow of the late John Walens, Elizabeth was the beloved mother of Archpriest Michael Hatrak [Matushka Valeria], Rector of Saints Peter and Paul Church, Minersville, PA, and grandmother of Deacon Gregory Hatrak of Three Hierarchs Chapel, Saint Vladimir’s Seminary, Yonkers, NY, Matthew Hatrak and Natalie Hatrak. She is further survived by several nieces and nephews.
Elizabeth was a past national officer of the Russian Orthodox Catholic Women’s Mutual Aid Society/National Slovak Society and a past officer of Saint Gregory Church, Homestead, PA.
Visitation will begin at the Savolskis-Wasik-Glenn Funeral Home, Inc., 3501 Main Street, Munhall, PA at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 10. A Panikhida will be celebrated at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be celebrated at Saint Gregory Church, Homestead, PA at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 11. Interment will follow at Jefferson Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Gregory Church, 214 East 15th Ave., Homestead PA 15120 or Saint Tikhon’s Monastery, 175 St. Tikhon’s Road, South Canaan PA 18472.
