Mrs. Margaret [Tomcho] Ressetar, wife of the late Right Rev. Dimitri J. Ressetar, fell asleep in the Lord at Saint Vincent Hospital here on Friday evening, February 17, 2006, just two days shy of her 101st birthday.
For many years, she and her husband, who died in 1984, ministered to parishes in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Connecticut. In 2005, on the occasion of her 100th birthday, she was presented with the Order of Saint Innocent, Silver Class, the highest honor awarded by the Orthodox Church in America.
Survivors include her son, the Very Rev. Daniel D. Ressetar, rector of Christ the Savior Church, Harrisburg, PA; two daughters, Mrs. Vera Bortniak, Shillington, PA, and Mrs. Anne Boyko, Hudson, FL; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Another son, Prof. John D. Ressetar, predeceased her in 2002.
Visitation and funeral services were held at the Monastery Church of Saint Tikhon of Zadonsk, South Canaan, PA, on Wednesday, February 22, with His Beatitude, Metropolitan Herman and His Grace, Bishop Tikhon of Philadelphia and Eastern Pennsylvania, officiating. Interment followed in the monastery cemetery.
May Matushka Margaret’s memory be eternal!
