Matushka Olga Govrusik, wife of the late Archpriest John W. Govrusik, fell asleep in the Lord on January 13, 2021 at the age of 96.
Matushka was born on January 30, 1924 in Holdingford, MN to the Archpriest John Paul and Matushka Maria Handziuk. She was a graduate of Central High School in Flint, Mi and became a typist in the executive offices of General Motors before marrying in 1944.
In addition to supporting FatherJohn’s ministry for over 68 years, Matushka worked in the Cairnbrook sewing factory and served as a volunteer at Windber Hospital.
Matushka is preceded in death by parents; husband, Archpriest John W. Govrusik; son, The Rev. Fr. John W. Govrusik, Jr.; sister, Stefanida; and infant brother, Nicholas. She is survived by daughter, Daria (Robert) Yanosky, Central City; grandson, Robbie (Ashley); granddaughters, Stacey, Tiffany, and Nadine; darling great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Irene (Chupeck) Govrusik, Syracuse, NY; and sister-in-law, Mary (Govrusik) Palladino, Lynnfield, MA.
Friends will be received from 9:00-10:00 AM on Wednesday, January 20, at St. Mary Antiochian Orthodox Church, 111 Alberta Ave., Johnstown, PA. Due to the pandemic, masks and social distancing are required. A private Funeral Service will be held at St. Mary Antiochian Orthodox Church followed by internment at St. Tikhon’s Monastery Cemetery, South Canaan, PA.
