Protonica Rose Milosevich, wife of the late Archpriest Milorad Milosevich, long-time rector of Saint Luke Church here, fell asleep in the Lord on June 21, 2012 after a prolonged illness.
Born Ruza [Rose] Milasinovic in Youngstown, OH in 1923, she married Milorad Milosevich in 1961. Shortly later, he was ordained to the holy priesthood and became the first permanent priest of the newly formed Saint Luke Serbian Orthodox Church in Washington DC and McLean, VA. For the next 47 years, they would continue to lovingly serve and guide that parish until Father Milorad’s retirement in 2009. During that time, Protonica Rose was active in many aspects of the parish’s life, organizing and supporting events and helping build a sense of community and family. In that role, she touched many, many lives, and she will be sorely missed. In her latter years, Protonica Rose became seriously ill and was largely confined to her bed, where she was lovingly cared for by Father Milorad and by her extended family.
Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. at Saint Luke Serbian Orthodox Church, 6801 Georgetown Pike, McLean, VA on Friday, June 29. A Memorial will be celebrated at 7:30 p.m.
The Funeral service will be celebrated at Saint Luke Church on Saturday, June 30 at 10:00 a.m., followed by interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 13801 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD. A memorial meal will follow at the parish hall.
May Protonica Rose’s memory be eternal!
