The Rev. Adrian William F. Pollard III, 48, died at his home here on Sunday, July 13, 2003 after a lengthy struggle with cancer.
Born in Norfolk, VA, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Religious Studies at Regents’ College, State University of New York, and a Master of Divinity degree from Saint Vladimir Orthodox Theological Seminary, Crestwood, NY in May, 1990. He was ordained to the Holy Priesthood at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Columbia, SC on June 24, 1989. After graduating from the seminary, he served Saint Mary Magdalene Mission, Savannah, GA for 11 years. During his tenure in Savannah, he earned a Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Georgia Southern University and held an Assistant Professorship in Ethics and Criminal Justice. He also served as an Associate Chaplain at Savannah’s Memorial Health University Medical Center from 1996- 2001.
In 2001, Father Pollard served as a hospice care chaplain at Heartland Home Health Care and Hospice, Allentown, PA. He was attached to Saint Nicholas Church, Bethlehem, PA at the time of his death.
Father Pollard is survived by his father, Col. William F. Pollard Jr.; his step-mother Kim Pollard; one brother, Mark Pollard, Williamsburg, VA; one sister, Diane Russel, Gowen, MI; one son, Daniel L. Pollard, Quakertown, PA; and Daniel’s mother, Cynthia Pollard, Savannah, GA.
The Burial Service for a Priest will be celebrated at Saint Nicholas Church, Bethlehem, PA by His Beatitude, Metropolitan Herman on Wednesday, July 16, at 7:00 p.m. The Divine Liturgy will be celebrated the following morning at 9:00 a.m. with burial at Saint Nicholas Cemetery.
