Litany of Fervent Supplication

The augmented litany which is sung at great vespers after the prokeimenon (and lessons, if there are any on that day), is transferred in daily vespers to a position immediately after the troparia, where it becomes the litany of fervent supplication. The first two petitions are omitted. Thus the litany begins with the petition, “Have mercy on us, O God…”
