Additional Lodging for 14th All-American Council Delegates

SYOSSET, NY [OCA Communications] — Two additional sites have been booked to house delegates to the 14th All-American Council of the Orthodox Church in America in Toronto July 17-22, 2005, according to the Very Rev. Myron D. Manzuk, council manager.

“While a June 14 deadline for making room reservations at the Sheraton City Centre at the special council rate had been announced, by May 31, the entire block of reserved rooms had already been booked,” Father Manzuk said. “The number of rooms initially booked was based on attendance at the last two councils in 1999 and 2002. We did not anticipate the surprising, sharp increase in the number of faithful planning to attend this year’s council.”

Those who have yet to book rooms for the council may make reservations at the following two facilities, both of which are a short distance from the Sheraton, the council site. Reservations must be made by June 14 to receive the quoted special rates.

Due to the unpredictable fluctuation of the exchange rate, prices are quoted in Canadian dollars.

  • A block of 25 rooms has been reserved at the Hotel Victoria, 56 Yonge St., Toronto. Special council rate is $125.00 Canadian for a standard queen or standard twin room; $135.00 Canadian for a deluxe king room; and $145.00 Canadian for a deluxe queen room [two queen beds]. Taxes not included.
  • Reservations must be received by Wednesday, June 15, 2005 to obtain the special council rate.

  • A block of 80 rooms has been reserved at the University of Toronto’s 89 Chestnut Residence at 89 Chestnut St., Toronto. Special council rate is $84.00 Canadian for a single, $94.00 Canadian for a double. Prices are subject to taxes totaling 12%. All room rates include a continental breakfast. A former hotel now used as university housing, the residence’s rooms include private baths, telephone with free local calls [long distance calls may only be made with a calling card], and high speed modem rental.
  • The rooms do not have TVs, and housekeeping is provided once per seven-day stay. On-site parking is on availability for $23.00 Canadian for a 24-hour period; the residence does not hold parking spaces for guests.

Reservations must be received by Wednesday June 15, 2005 to obtain the special council rate. All requests received after this date will be subject to availability.
