Announcement of Search for Executive Director at Washington Office - Standing Conference of Canonical Orthodox Bishops in the Americas (SCOBA)

The Washington Office of the SCOBA is being created to make an Orthodox Christian contribution to the development of public policy in Washington, DC.

The search committee is looking for a person with the following qualifications and skills to head the Office:

The Executive Director should be an accomplished, intelligent person of integrity with theological training and advanced degrees.

He/she should understand issues of Church governance on all levels.

The candidate must be able to conduct research, analysis on religious, political and social issues, formulate position papers and press releases for publication, and make oral presentation to elected and civil officials, members of the press, and the wider community.

Interpersonal skills are extremely important. The Executive Director must be able to interface with the Hierarchy, the appropriate offices of the Legislative, Executive, and Judicial branches of government, the media, public policy organizations, lobbyists, and broadly with the communicants of the Orthodox Church.

The candidate must be energetic and diplomatic to be able to generate support (including financial support), cooperation, and consensus among a broad array of individuals to further the interests of the Church.
