CRESTWOOD, NY [OCA Communications] — His Grace, Bishop Mark of Toledo and the Midwest of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America, made his first official visit to Saint Vladimir’s Seminary here on the Great Feast of the Meeting of the Lord in the Temple on February 2, 2006.

A 1991 graduate of the seminary, Bishop Mark discussed the seminary’s curriculum and ongoing “Good Pastor” project with several faculty members. Bishop Mark also toured the school’s expanded facilities, held individual meetings with seminarians, and met with students from his diocese.

The highlight of Bishop Mark’s visit was the ordination of Deacon Peter Jon Gillquist to the Holy Priesthood during the festal Divine Liturgy celebrated in the seminary’s Three Hierarchs Chapel.

Father Peter Jon Gillquist, a third-year student in the Masters of Divinity program, has released seven CDs of original music rooted in various Christian themes and has performed at hundreds of parishes and venues around the US. He is the son of the Very Rev. Peter Gillquist, chairman of the Antiochian Archdiocese’s Department of Missions and Evangelism, author of numerous books, including Becoming Orthodox, and project director of the Orthodox Study Bible.
