Committee formed to oversee distribution of Emergency Relief Funds

A committee has been established by His Beatitude Metropolitan Theodosius to distribute contributions made to the Orthodox Church in America’s September 11 Emergency Relief Appeal.

“In an effort to address the immediate needs of those whose lives have been most affected by the tragic events of September 11, we have asked clergy and laity from the New York City and Washington, DC areas to serve on the committee,” according to Protopresbyter Robert Kondratick, OCA Chancellor.

“The committee has been entrusted with overseeing the distribution of funds and with ensuring that every dollar contributed to the special appeal will be distributed to those in need.”

Faithful from OCA parishes across North America contributed over $230,000 to the special appeal.

Members of the committee, which will hold its first meeting at the OCA Chancery on Thursday, December 20, include the Very Revs. Wiaczeslaw Krawczuk, Paul Kucynda, Dimitri Oselinsky, Gregory Safchuk, Stavros Strikis, and Constantine White; the Revs. Daniel Degyansky, Vladimir Alexeev; Igumen Christopher [Calin]; Deacon Michael Suvak; and Maureen Bezuhly-Galterio.

Donations to the special appeal may still be sent to the Orthodox Church in America, September 11 Emergency Relief Appeal, PO Box 675, Syosset, NY 11791.
