Fellowship of Orthodox Christians in America Holds 78th National Convention

Hundreds of delegates representing chapters across the US gathered at the Grand Island Resort and Conference Center here July 14-19, 2004 for the 78th annual national convention of the Fellowship of Orthodox Christians in America.

Sponsored by the FOCA chapter from Saint John the Baptist Church, Campbell, OH, the convention provides an opportunity for Orthodox Christians to gather for plenary sessions devoted to the future growth of the fellowship, worship, and a variety of fellowship activities for all ages. Theme of this year’s conference is “It’s a Jungle Out There,” with a variety of jungle-related activities and events. In addition to the President’s Open golf outing, conventioneers enjoyed a variety of events and programs and concluded their five-day gathering with a Grand Banquet on Sunday evening, July 18.

His Beatitude, Metropolitan Herman, Primate of the Orthodox Church in America and spiritual leader of the FOCA, presided at the convention Divine Liturgy on Sunday, July 18, a convention highlight.
