Fr. Hopko to present lecture at monastery
— Protopresbyter Thomas Hopko, dean emeritus of Saint Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary, Crestwood, NY, will present a series of lectures at the Orthodox Monastery of the Transfiguration here in January and February 2006.
The theme of the series is “On the Orthodox Understanding of Christ’s Death and the Dead in Christ.”
On Saturday, January 14, Father Hopko will speak on “Christ’s Death and Our Death in Him.” On Saturday, January 21, his topic will be “Life after Death: The Teaching about the ‘Toll Houses,’” while the final lecture on Saturday, February 11, will focus on “Praying with, to and for the Departed in Christ.”
All lectures, to which the public is invited, begin at 3:00 p.m.
