Holy Trinity Cathedral, Chicago, to host choir workshop Saturday, January 17, 2009

Holy Trinity Orthodox Cathedral in Chicago, IL, will host a choir workshop entitled “Chant: How it has informed our liturgical experience past, present, and future” on Saturday, January 17, 2009. Lead by Mr. Mark Bailey, this informative workshop will look at the relationship that chant has to text, liturgy, and language.

With a strong interactive focus, there will be many opportunities for participants to ask questions, discuss texts, and to sing them.

Mr. Bailey will also explore how the chant tradition has influenced the choral tradition – a tradition that has become well established in the 21st century North American Church.

The workshop will begin with registration at 9:30 AM and end with Vigil at 4:30 PM. Lunch will be provided. To help defray the cost of the workshop, there will be a charge of $20 per person.
