Metropolitan Herman to Celebrate Nativity at DC Cathedral

WASHINGTON, DC [OCA Communications]—His Beatitude, Metropolitan Herman, will celebrate the Vigil for the Great Feast of the Nativity of Our Lord at Saint Nicholas Cathedral here on Wednesday, December 24, 2003 at 7:00 p.m.

Earlier the same day, he will celebrate the Royal Hours and the Vesperal Divine Liturgy beginning at 8am for the Eve of the Nativity at Saint Tikhon Monastery Church, South Canaan, PA.

On December 25, the Great Feast of the Nativity, Metropolitan Herman will celebrate the festal Divine Liturgy at Saint Nicholas Cathedral at 9:30 a.m., after which he will return to Saint Tikhon Monastery for the celebration of the Divine Liturgy for the Feast of the Synaxis of the Mother of God on December 26.

The beautifully frescoed cathedral, of which the Very Rev. Constantine White is dean, is located in the heart of “embassy row” in the US capital at 3500 Massachusetts Avenue NW. Modeled after the famous 14th century Church of Saint Demetrius in Vladimir, Russia, the cathedral serves as the seat of the Primate of the Orthodox Church in America.
