Metropolitan Theodosius, Father Kondratick Attend Funeral of John Cardinal O’Connor

His Beatitude, Metropolitan THEODOSIUS, Primate of the Orthodox Church in America, was among the religious and civic leaders who attended the funeral of JOHN Cardinal O’Connor of New York at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral here May 8, 2000.

Accompanying Metropolitan THEODOSIUS was Protopresbyter Robert Kondratick, OCA Chancellor.

“During his brief tenure as Bishop of Scranton and later as Archbishop of New York, Cardinal O’Connor always displayed tremendous openness toward and friendship with the Orthodox Church,” Metropolitan THEODOSIUS stated upon learning of the Cardinals death. “His unswerving faithfulness to the sanctity of life and the example he set in ministering to and caring for the least of the brethren was an example to all and a legacy that will continue to inspire many, regardless of their background. May his memory be eternal!”

Among the other Orthodox who attended the Cardinals funeral were His Eminence, Archbishop DIMITRIOS of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America; His Eminence, Archbishop IAKOVOS, retired Primate of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese; and His Grace, Bishop MERCURIUS of Zaraisk of the Moscow Patriarchate.
