National Orthodox Radio Focuses on Mission Parishes

Starting this Saturday, July 17th, Come Receive The Light, the National Orthodox Christian Radio program, will focus a special part of the broadcast on Orthodox mission parishes across the country. This special segment will feature a different Orthodox mission parish each month, and will give the listener insight on the challenges and blessings of establishing an Orthodox parish in today’s America.

The first parish to be featured will be St. Athanasius Orthodox Christian Mission in Nicholasville, KY. This parish whose Priest-in-charge is Fr. David Rucker, is made up mostly of converts to the Orthodox Christian faith, and is the very first parish for the Orthodox Church in America in Kentucky. You can hear the program on the internet starting this Saturday at

Fr. Christopher Metropulos, founder and co-host of the program, says “One of the main reasons for Come Receive The Light is to raise awareness of the growth and ministry of our Orthodox churches in the US. By highlighting Orthodox mission parishes, we are taking the bushel off the ancient and timeless light of Orthodoxy, and hopefully, helping the growth of these new mission churches.”

Come Receive The Light is the flagship radio program of Orthodox Christian Network (OCN) and is dedicated to spreading joy, hope and salvation in Jesus Christ while exploring Orthodox Christianity in contemporary society.

Orthodox Christian Networks is headquartered in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and is a commissioned agency of The Standing Conference of Canonical Orthodox Bishops in the Americas (SCOBA) and a member of the National Religious Broadcasters.
