OCA Archivist delivers lecture marking 40th anniversary of autocephaly

The Orthodox Church in America’s Archivist, Alexis Liberovsky, delivered a lecture titled “The Autocephaly of the Orthodox Church in America: From Historical Vision to the Present” at Saint Mark Church here March 24, 2010 marking the 40th anniversary of the OCA’s autocephaly.

Similar lectures will be presented by Mr. Liberovsky elsewhere in the coming months.

The lecture was accompanied by a media presentation featuring nearly 200 images selected from the OCA Archives and other sources highlighting key people, events and documents that helped shape the OCA’s life from the Alaskan mission in 1794 to the granting of autocephaly in 1970 and beyond, through the forthcoming North American Episcopal Assembly, slated to convene in New York in May 2010.
