OCA delegation guests of the Governor of Ajaria
On Friday evening, October 16, 2009, His Beatitude, Metropolitan Jonah of All America and Canada and those accompanying him from the Orthodox Church in America — Archimandrite Zacchaeus, the Very Rev. Alexander Garklavs, the Very Rev. Alexander Tandishivili, and Archdeacon Kirill Sokolov — were the guests of the Governor of Ajaria, Mr. Levan Varshalomidze, at an informal dinner held in their honor.
Escorting the delegation were His Eminence, Metropolitan Dimitri of Batumi and Lazeti, and His Eminence, Metropolitan Gerasim of Zugdidi and Tsaishi, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Department of the Georgian Patriarchate.
During the dinner, Metropolitan Jonah had the opportunity to express his gratitude for the hospitality shown during his visit to Georgia, and in particular during his stay in Batumi in the region of Ajaria. Likewise, Governor Varshalomidze thanked Metropolitan Jonah and his delegation for taking time to visit their region and to show support to the local Orthodox Church there.
