OCA Holy Synod of Bishops to meet in special session August 18 - 19, 2009
During a conference call July13, 2009, members of the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Orthodox Church in America decided to meet August 18 and 19, 2009, at the OCA Chancery for a special session.
“The members of the Holy Synod felt that, with a number of serious matters requiring attention, it would be best not to wait until our regular Fall Session to meet,” said His Beatitude, Metropolitan Jonah.
The regular Fall meeting of the Holy Synod will take place in late September, and will overlap with the Fall meeting of the OCA Metropolitan Council to allow for both bodies to meet in joint session.
In related news, during their conference call, the hierarchs were informed that the committee chaired by His Grace, Bishop Nikon of Boston, New England, and the Albanian Archdiocese that is mandated to investigate Saint Tikhon’s Monastery will be meeting at the monastery within the week to begin its work.
