OCA Parishioner in urgent need of kidney donor, transplant

Miss Priscilla Sirilla, 62, a parishioner of Saint John the Baptist Orthodox Church here, has been on a waiting list for a kidney transplant for three years.

While Miss Sirilla has been undergoing dialysis, she has yet to find a donor for a new kidney. A retired physical education teacher who has undergone open heart surgery, she has no family members. She is in need of a donor with type “A” or “O” blood.

“The average wait for a kidney donor spans at least six years,” according to the Very Rev. John Matusiak, OCA Communications Director. “A few months ago, we found a donor for another OCA parishioner, Serge Ozerov, and we are hoping that we can locate one to help Miss Sirilla. The donor would need to travel to Ohio for the procedure, which can be done laparoscopically.”
