OCMC accepting applications for 2009 Mission Teams

The Orthodox Christian Mission Center [OCMC] has released its Mission Team schedule for 2009. Teams will be involved in mission and outreach work in Alaska, as well as in countries in Africa, Asia, Europe and Central America.

Founded in 1994 as an official agency of the Standing Conference of Canonical Orthodox Bishops in the Americas [SCOBA], OCMC helps the Orthodox faithful of North America to proclaim the fullness of the Orthodox Christian Faith by supporting the development and work of indigenous leaders throughout the world, including clergy and laity, helping them to build up vibrant Orthodox communities through the sending of missionaries, mission teams and financial assistance.

“Orthodox Mission Teams are a way to share the joy of Orthodox Christianity with the world,” reads a statement on the OCMC web site. “Mission Teams are groups of Orthodox Christians who share in a journey of faith, serving as witnesses to the Gospel of Christ. Make a difference in someone’s life by ministering cross-culturally to others’ spiritual and physical needs.”
