Orthodox Christian Education Commission (OCEC) Announces First Text of New Curriculum

- The Board of Trustees for the Orthodox Christian Education Commission (OCEC) is pleased to announce the upcoming release of the first text of its new curriculum series, expected to be available for the start of the academic year this fall.

THE WAY, THE TRUTH, AND THE LIFE was developed in response to many years of frustration, voiced by teachers and church school directors, whose efforts have been hampered by their students’ sporadic attendance, insufficient class times, and inadequate teaching facilities. The program offers the “basics” of Orthodoxy for students in eighth grade and above.

According to Carole Buleza, OCEC Curriculum Chairperson, “This program allows us to offer every student a firm knowledge of their Orthodox faith as well as the opportunity to further develop/explore their own spiritual awareness/maturity.”

The Orthodox Christian Education Commission, under the Presidency of Metropolitan Philip, is an agency of the Standing Conference of Canonical Orthodox Bishops in America (SCOBA). It was founded in 1957 by a group of Orthodox theologians and educators as a forum to exchange ideas and to search for solutions to common educational problems. It currently aims to develop and publish educational material for and offers support services to Orthodox Christian Churches in North America.
