Orthodox Christians gather in Washington, DC, for 36th annual March for Life

On Thursday, January 22, 2009, Orthodox Christian clergy and faithful from across the US will gather in Washington, DC, for the 36th annual March for Life.

The March for Life will begin at 12:00 noon on the National Mall. All Orthodox Christians taking part in the March are encouraged to look for and gather under the large “Orthodox Christians for Life” banner.

Among the religious leaders slated to address the marchers on Capitol Hill at the conclusion of the March will be His Beatitude, Metropolitan Jonah, and His Grace, Bishop Tikhon of Philadelphia and Eastern Pennsylvania.

On Thursday evening, January 22, Metropolitan Jonah will give the invocation at the March for Life’s annual Rose Dinner at the Hyatt Regency Washington.

On the eve of the March, Wednesday, January 21, 2009, at 7:00 PM, a Vespers services will be celebrated at St. Nicholas Cathedral, Washington, DC, with special prayers for the preservation of the sanctity of all human life.
