Portland, Oregon site of iconography workshop July 6-11
Saint Nicholas Church here will host a workshop on traditional Byzantine style egg tempera icon painting July 6-11, 2009.
Led by master iconographer Heather MacKean, the workshop will feature instruction in the history, setting, language and vocabulary, and theological foundation of Orthodox Christian liturgal art, in addition to the actual iconographic technique.
The six-day workshop will conclude with a public lecture titled “The Theological Language of Icons” on the evening of Saturday, July 11.
Tuition for the workshop, which will meet from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. daily, is $675.00. A maximum of 15 students will be accepted.
