Response to Ann Landers’ Column / November 11, 1996

Dear Ms Landers,

This is response to your discussion of religious bodies in your November 11, 1996 column.

The Eastern Orthodox Church is not a sect. Orthodox Christianity, historically, is the continuation of the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church, which numbers more than 250 million faithful worldwide.

Orthodox Christianity and Western Christianity separated in the 11th century over matters of theology and Church governance. This unfortunate separation continues to this day

We would be grateful if you would kindly run a correction in your column.

Very truly yours,

Fr Gregory Havrilak,

Director of Communications

Orthodox Church in America
