Schedule of services for the consecration of Bishop-Elect Michael announced

JERSEY CITY, NY [OCA] - In a memorandum issued recently by Archpriest Joseph Lickwar, chancellor of the Orthodox Church in America’s Diocese of New York and New Jersey, preliminary plans for the consecration of Bishop-Elect Michael [Dahulich] were announced.

With the blessing of His Beatitude, Metropolitan Jonah, diocesan Locum Tenens, the following schedule has been prepared.

Friday, May 7, 2010

Great Vespers for the Feast of the Holy Apostle John the Theologian will be celebrated at Saints Peter and Paul Church, 109 Grand Street, Jersey City, NJ, at 7:00 p.m.

Saturday, May 8, 2010

Bishop-Elect Michael will make his Profession of Faith at Saints Peter and Paul Church at 9:00 a.m., followed by the consecration Divine Liturgy concelebrated by Metropolitan Jonah and members of the Holy Synod of Bishops. A banquet will follow at the Casino-in-the-Park Restaurant, Jersey City, from 1:00 until 5:00 p.m. Tickets are $75.00 for adults, $25.00 for children age 8 and under. Banquet seating reservation forms must be submitted by March 31, 2010. Seating is reserved in tables of eight, according to the order in which responses are received.

Metropolitan Jonah and the members of the Holy Synod of Bishops will concelebrate the Divine Liturgy and Enthronement of Bishop Michael at Holy Virgin Protection Cathedral, 59 East Second Street, New York, NY, at 9:30 a.m. A reception will follow in the cathedral auditorium.

Motel accommodations are available at the Double Tree Jersey City, five blocks north of Saints Peter and Paul Church. Those who register by April 16 will be guaranteed the special daily rate of $109 plus tax from Friday May 7 through Sunday, May 9, 2010. Reservations may also be made by calling 800-222-TREE.

A commemorative booklet also is being planned.
