Second national mission strategy meeting held

Clergy involved in the field of domestic missions met here November 4-5, 2001 to further develop a national mission strategy for the Orthodox Church in America.

Chaired by the Very Rev. Paul Kucynda, Coordinator of the OCA Mission Unit, the meeting reviewed a number of documents related to missionary work and the establishment of new communities. Plans were made for the development of a resource book covering a variety of areas crucial in the establishment and nurturing of new missions and parishes.

The OCA’s current Church Planting Grant program was also reviewed in detail, with a number of recommendations under consideration for expanding the program.

His Grace, Bishop Job of Chicago, joined participants for a luncheon, during which he introduced representatives of several communities of the Evangelical Orthodox Church who are contemplating entrance into the Orthodox Church in America.
