Server upgrading causes temporary web site delays

Server and hardware upgrading during the week of November 3, 2002 is causing temporary delays and other minor inconveniences to those logging on to the web site of the Orthodox Church in America at http://www.oca.org.

“With the explosive growth of the OCA’s web site and the vast amount of material added in recent months, periodic upgrades are essential,” explains the Very Rev. John Matusiak, OCA Communications Director. “A number of new resources were posted mid-week, and we anticipate that all necessary servicing of the site will be completed by the weekend of November 9-10.”

Among the recent postings is a release detailing the consecration on November 1-2 of Archimandrite Irineu as Bishop of Dearborn Heights, MI and Auxiliary to the Romanian Orthodox Episcopate. Updates have also been made to a number of the site’s regular features and links. Work is being completed on posting a selection of photos from Bishop Irineu’s consecration and other recent events.

The OCA web site, which features thousands of pages of information, directories, and resources, averages some 700,000 hits each month.
