St. Tikhon Monastery, Seminary to host North American Orthodox Peace Fellowship Conference

At the invitation of His Beatitude, Metropolitan Herman, Primate of the Orthodox Church in America, the North American branch of the Orthodox Peace Fellowship of the Protection of the Mother of God once again will hold its annual conference at Saint Tikhon Monastery and Seminary here over Pentecost weekend, June 13-16, 2003.

Deacon John Chryssavgis of Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology, Brookline MA, a highly respected theologian and author of many books and articles, will deliver the keynote address on the theme “Peace Be With You: Living the Beatitudes in a Wounded World.”

Other speakers include the Very Rev. Michael Dahulich, Dean of Saint Tikhon Seminary; Mother Raphaela, Abbess of the Holy Myrrhbearers Monastery, Otego NY; Fr. Allyne Smith, Orthodox Christian Prison Ministries; Mr. Jim Forest, General Secretary of the international OPF; and others.

Workshops on individual beatitudes will be conducted by Orthodox theologians and teachers, with special attention to Christian peacemaking.

During the conference, members of OPF-North America will also hold their annual business meeting, during which they will discuss the organization of regional chapters and elect officers for 2003-2004.

The total cost of the conference is $250, which includes registration, three nights lodging, meals and snacks, and workshop materials.
