A meeting of the full Board of Trustees of St. Tikhon’s Orthodox Theological Seminary, South Canaan, PA, was held on August 7, 2009. Due to construction at the seminary, the trustees met at the Diocesan Center of the Diocese of Eastern Pennsylvania, which is also located in South Canaan.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Board of Trustees issued the following statement.

“The Board of Trustees of St. Tikhon’s Orthodox Theological Seminary, meeting in South Canaan, PA this 7th day of August, 2009 states and affirms:

“Collectively, we have no interest in, nor see any need for, a merger with any other theological institution now or in the foreseeable future.

“We support the direction of St. Tikhon’s Seminary and declare that the seminary is operating effectively, efficiently and profitably and will not be closed. We are pleased with the progress we have made in the past few years and will labor towards continued improvement in all facets of the school.

“We support the concept of the greater cooperation between all Orthodox Theological Seminaries and pledge to diligently pursue the accomplishment of that goal.”
