20th All-American Council Postponed to July 2022

Today, Archpriest Alexander Rentel, Chancellor of the Orthodox Church in America, released the following statement:

On Thursday, December 3, 2020, the Holy Synod of the Orthodox Church in America, under the presidency of His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon, met via teleconference as part of its regular Fall 2020 Session. During this meeting, the Holy Synod approved the decision of the Metropolitan Council from its meeting on Thursday, November 19, 2020, to postpone the 20th All-American Council from July 2021 until July 2022.

The Metropolitan Council and the Holy Synod took this decision due the uncertainties related to the present public health crisis.

Exact details for the time and place of the 20th All-American Council should be finalized in early 2021. Once the Metropolitan Council and Holy Synod approve these details, they will be announced to the Church in order to assure that parishes, monasteries, and institutions have ample time to prepare.
