Alaskan Native Spiritual Legacy exhibition’s lecturers announced

Three free public lectures will be held in conjunction with an exhibition titled “Russian America: The Alaskan Native Spiritual Legacy,” slated to run at the Villanova University Art Gallery here from January 22 through May 15, 2016.  [See related story.]

On Sunday, March 20, Archpriest John Kowalczyk, Rector of Saint Michael Church, Jermyn, PA, will deliver a lecture titled “The Miraculous Icon of Our Lady of Sitka.”  The lecture will be delivered at 4:00 p.m. in the Presidents’ Lounge of the University’s Connelly Center, 800 East Lancaster Ave., Villanova, PA.

Archpriest Michael Oleksa of the Orthodox Church in America’s Diocese of Alaska will speak on “Russian America: The Alaskan Native Spiritual Legacy,” at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 5 in the Connelly Center Cinema.

“The Alaskan Church Today” will be the focus of the series’ third lecture, slated to be delivered by Archpriest Nicholas Molodyko-Harris, who served in the Diocese of Alaska for many years prior to his retirement, at 7:00 p.m. on Bright Tuesday, May 3 in the Presidents’ Lounge.

The exhibition was organized by Archpriest John J. Perich, Curator of the Metropolitan Museum of the OCA and Saint Tikhon’s Monastery and Seminary Icon Repository, South Canaan, PA, and the Rev. Richard G. Cannuli, OSA, Villanova University Art Gallery.
