Antiochian Patriarch John X, Metropolitan Tikhon to concelebrate Sunday

His Beatitude, Metropolitan Tikhon will concelebrate the Divine Liturgy with His Beatitude, Patriarch John X of Antioch and All the East and His Eminence, Metropolitan Joseph of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America at Saints Peter and Paul Church, 10620 River Road, Potomac, MD on Sunday, December 14, 2014.

On Saturday, December 13, Patriarch John will preside at the celebration of Great Vespers at 5:30 p.m.  A reception and dinner will follow.

Orthros will be celebrated on Sunday morning at 9:15 a.m., followed by the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy at 10:30 a.m.  The annual Saint Ignatius Christmas luncheon will follow.

Patriarch John arrived in the US on December 4 to preside at the Enthronement of Metropolitan Joseph, which took place at Saint Nicholas Cathedral, Brooklyn, NY two days later.  Metropolitan Joseph was selected by the Holy Synod of Antioch on July 3, 2014 to succeed His Eminence, Metropolitan Philip, who fell asleep in the Lord on March 19.  He formerly served as the Bishop of the Archdiocese’s Diocese of Los Angeles and the West.  [See related stories.]

Five bishops represented the Orthodox Church in America at the Enthronement while Metropolitan Tikhon was in Russia at the invitation of His Holiness, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’.  [See related story.]
