Bishop Melchisedek to undergo surgery

His Grace, Bishop Melchisedek of Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania, the Acting Chancellor of the Orthodox Church in America, was admitted to Glen Cove Hospital on the evening of Thursday, August 11, 2011, after being rushed to the emergency room with intense abdominal pain.

According to Archpriest Eric G. Tosi, OCA Secretary, “it was determined that he has a hernia and will require surgery.”

On Friday morning, August 12, Father Eric reported that Bishop Melchisedek remains in the hospital, and that he will have surgery on Monday, August 15, to repair the hernia.  He will convalesce at Glen Cove Hospital until such time as doctors permit him to travel, at which point he will return to Pittsburgh.

Please remember Bishop Melchisedek in prayer.
