First Annual Labor Day Young Singers’ Conference

PaTRAM

As previously announced, the PaTRAM Institute will sponsor its first Labor Day Young Singers’ Conference to be held Labor Day weekend at Holy Trinity Monastery and Seminary here.

“The purpose of PaTRAM’s conferences is to offer young Orthodox singers and musicians, ages 15 - 40, an opportunity to strengthen their musical skills and deepen their connection to the Orthodox Faith,” said Sanya Lukianov, conference coordinator.  “Dr. Peter Jermihov, Katya Lukianova, Dr. Irina Riazanova, and Father Ephraim Willmarth — the featured faculty members—will lead the participants in a series of interactive classes and rehearsals that emphasize prayerful and musical singing.  Abbot Archimandrite Luke has graciously allowed the participants to sing in two Hierarchical Divine Liturgies, celebrated respectively by His Eminence, Archbishop Gabriel and His Grace, Bishop Nicholas, thus giving the singers a chance to experience worship in a pious, monastery setting.”

To ensure that all young and talented Orthodox singers receive the opportunity for growth, PaTRAM will offer a limited number of full tuition scholarships.  Participants may register for the conference and/or apply for a scholarship on-line.

“After our very successful first Young Singers’ Conference at Saint Tikhon’s Monastery and Seminary over Memorial weekend, PaTRAM will be sponsoring the second of our two annual music conferences for young singers, this time at the Holy Trinity Seminary,” said Alexis V. Lukianov, PaTRAM Institute’s Chairman and CEO.  “The young voices in our program will learn and expand their knowledge of Orthodox choral music under the tutelage of some of the best faculty in the country.  In addition, there will be plenty of interaction with resident and visiting clergy and pilgrims from around the country during this Labor Day weekend.”

Archimandrite Luke of Holy Trinity Monastery added, “We welcome PaTRAM to our monastery and seminary through a music conference as we believe this opportunity will educate the youth bringing them closer to the Church as well as furthering their own talents in liturgical music.”
