His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon Celebrates Annunciation Services at St. Vladimir’s Seminary
On March 24 and 25, 2023 His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon celebrated services for the feast of the Annunciation at Saint Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary.
On March 24, His Beatitude began by presiding at the services of the hierarchical Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts and All-Night Vigil later that evening. The morning of March 25, His Beatitude presided at the celebration of the hierarchical Divine Liturgy at which time he tonsured Antwian Davis as a Reader. Concelebrating with His Beatitude were Archpriest Chad Hatfield and other seminary clergy.
His Beatitude gave the homily where he spoke on Christ’s “radical act of solidarity, of identification, with his fallen and suffering creation” through the Cross and Passion. We, in turn, “may unite our own suffering with his life-giving suffering so that we might become identified with [Christ].” His Beatitude offered the Theotokos as the example of this since, “She, too, accomplishes this through self-emptying: she makes no room in her heart for herself, giving all her inner space over to God.”
