Local Committee meets and reviews plans for the 20th All-American Council
The first meeting of local committee of the 20th All-American Council [AAC] was held on Saturday, October 26th 2019 at St. Matthew’s Orthodox Church in Columbia, MD. The committee has the duty of organization the Council which is slated to take place from July 23rd to July 30th 2021 in Baltimore, MD. This is the second time that the All-American Council will be hosted in the Archdiocese, the first being the 8th All American Council which took place in Washington, D.C. in August of 1986.
Over 25 members of the Archdiocese of Washington met with Archpriest Alexander Rentel, OCA Chancellor; Dn. Peter Ilchuk, Council Manager; Archpriest Ted Boback, Local Clergy Chair; and Ms. Lisa Mikhalevsky, Local Lay Chair to review the venue, initial plans of the Preconciliar Commission, and the responsibilities of the local subcommittees that will be formed to operate the Council.
According to Fr. John Vitko, Archdiocesan Chancellor; the members of the Archdiocese are excited about having the opportunity to showcase the work of the Archdiocese and look forward to welcoming the Hierarchs, Clergy, and Faithful across the Orthodox Church in America to the Archdiocese of Washington D.C. for a wonderful and fruitful Council.
The AAC will take place at the Baltimore Hilton Inner Harbor Hotel located in downtown Baltimore, MD. Hilton Baltimore Inner Harbor is set in the Inner Harbor, an iconic seaport area of restaurants, museums, shops, sports complexes, nightclubs and historic ships. It is a quick walk to Camden Yards, M&T Stadium, the National Aquarium, Maryland Science Center and a waterfront concert at Pier Six Pavilion.
His Beatitude, Metropolitan Tikhon serves as chairman of the Preconciliar Commission.
