Metropolitan Council search for Audit Committee members continues
In mid-August 2015, in accordance with the Statute of the Orthodox Church in America, the Metropolitan Council’s Internal Governance Committee opened a search for new members to serve on the OCA Audit Committee. The new auditors will succeed the current members, whose terms expired with the conclusion of the 18th All-American Council in July 2015.
Qualified applicants should possess a background in auditing processes and procedures and hold current relevant certification.
The deadline for applications has been extended to Friday, September 18. Those interested in serving should submit a letter of introduction, current CV and three references to the Metropolitan Council Internal Governance Committee by that date. Applications should be sent to the Orthodox Church in America, PO Box 675, Syosset, NY 11791, ATTN: Audit Committee.
This action is taken in accordance with the OCA Statute, Article 3, Section 15 (new Statute Article 5, Section 9) which states, “An auditing committee consisting of three members shall be nominated and appointed by the Metropolitan Council at its first meeting following the election of Metropolitan Council members at the All-American Council. The term of service shall be from appointment to the end of the next All-American Council. Its duties shall be to audit all accounts of the Orthodox Church in America on a semiannual basis and review the audited accounts of all stavropegial institutions on an annual basis and to report same to the Metropolitan Council. The Chairman of the auditing committee shall attend sessions of the Metropolitan Council only to make the committee’s reports. All auditors shall have relevant professional experience. An auditor shall succeed himself for only one additional term, and may only be removed for cause by a two-thirds vote of the Metropolitan Council. Vacancies in the auditing committee are filled by the Metropolitan Council.”
