Metropolitan Tikhon guest of Metropolitan Silouan at Antiochian Archdiocesan headquarters
His Beatitude, Metropolitan Tikhon, was the guest of His Eminence, Metropolitan Silouan, Bishop of Buenos Aires and Patriarchal Vicar for His Beatitude, Patriach John X of Antioch and All the East for the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America, at the Archdiocese’s headquarters here on Wednesday, May 28, 2014—the Leavetaking of Holy Pascha. Accompanying Metropolitan Tikhon were Archpriest John Jillions, Chancellor of the Orthodox Church in America, and Archpriest Leonid Kishkovsky, Director of the Office of External Affairs for OCA.
Also present for the meeting were Archpriests Thomas Zain and George Kevorkian, Vicar General and Hierarchical Assistant of the Antiochian Archdiocese respectively.
The Metropolitans discussed various issues related to the current time of transition in the Archdiocese and current topics of interest in the Orthodox world. Metropolitan Silouan explained the process by which a successor to His Eminence, the late Metropolitan Philip, who fell asleep in the Lord on March 19, 2014, would be elected. They also discussed current events with regard to the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of the United States of America and the Synaxis of Primates, at which Metropolitan Silouan represented the Patriarchate of Antioch.
Metropolitan Tikhon assured Metropolitan Silouan and the Archdiocese of his prayers, and those of the entire OCA, during this period of transition, after which the latter expressed his gratitude for Metropolitan Tikhon’s presence at the Memorial and Funeral of Metropolitan Philip. After sharing a luncheon, the Metropolitans sang “Christ is risen” for the final time in Saint John Chrysostom Chapel.
