Metropolitan Tikhon Sends Condolences on the Falling Asleep of Serbian Orthodox Patriarch Irinej
His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon sent condolences on behalf of the Holy Synod of the Orthodox Church in America on the falling asleep of His Holiness Patriarch Irinej of the Serbian Orthodox Church. Patriarch Irinej, age 90, reportedly contracted COVID-19 after attending the funeral of Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro on November 1, 2020.
His Beatitude hailed Patriarch Irinej as a “lifelong devoted servant of the Church,” “a national leader,” and noted that he “strengthened the fraternal bonds between Orthodox Christians of all nations everywhere.”
Metropolitan Hrisostom of Dabar-Bosnia has been named Locum Tenens of the Serbian Patriarchal throne.
