OCAMPR announces Conference keynote, plenary speakers

The Orthodox Christian Association of Medicine, Psychology, and Religion [OCAMPR] recently announced the keynote and plenary speakers for its upcoming annual Conference, “Compliance and Resistance: Discerning the Spirit”.

The Conference, which will be held at the Ukrainian Cultural Center, Somerset, NJ November 8 through 10, 2018, will focus on the medical, psychological, and spiritual aspects of discerning the Spirit, in the compliance and resistance in those we serve and in ourselves, as we seek to serve, guide, and assist.

His Eminence, Metropolitan Joseph of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America, will deliver the keynote address.  His Grace, Bishop John of the Diocese of Worcester and New England, will present Metropolitan Joseph’s address on his behalf.

Presenting the medical perspective of the Conference theme will be Halina Woroncow, MD, Staff Consultant for the Department of Family Medicine and Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN.  Dr. Woroncow also is Medical Consultant for Dodge County Public Health and Medical Director of Rochester’s Fairview Care Center.

The psychological perspective will be presented by Olimpia Belea, MRCPsych (Member of The Royal College of Psychiatry), a Consultant Psychiatrist in Adult and Addiction Psychiatry currently working in an ADHD and Autistic Spectrum Disorder clinic in South West London and at Saint George’s NHS Mental Health Trust, London, UK.

Helen Theodoropoulos, PhD, will present the theological perspective of the theme.  Dr. Theodoropoulos is an Adjunct Professor at Saint Sava Serbian Orthodox School of Theology, Libertyville, IL and a Lecturer in the Department of Spiritual Theology at the University of Saint Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary, Mundelein, IL.
